VINELink is the public web entry for New Jersey Enhanced VINE. The service supports a specific-person custody search and eligible notifications from participating county-jail and state-corrections feeds. For Mercer County, the relevant local agency is Mercer County Correction Center. For a person in New Jersey prison custody, the reporting source may be the New Jersey Department of Corrections instead.
VINE is a timely notification layer. It is not a permanent historical archive, court docket, parole-decision database, or certified discharge record. A release or out-of-custody result supports the conclusion that the person left the reporting agency’s custody. It may not show where the person went. A county release to NJDOC, ICE, another county, a federal custodian, or a hospital is not the same as release to the community.
The official New Jersey Enhanced VINE brochure describes the service as free and confidential. It provides web, mobile, telephone, text, email, app, and TTY channels. Juvenile information can have added access limits. A person who cannot be found may be outside public coverage, listed under a different identifier, moved, released, or affected by feed timing.
Search Mercer Inmates on VINELink
Begin with enough detail to distinguish one person. A full legal name, known alias, date of birth when lawfully known, and SBI or other custody identifier can reduce false matches. The SBI number is New Jersey’s State Bureau of Identification number. It is especially useful when names are common or an alias appears in a state record.

- Enter the person’s name or identifier, using available narrowing details.
- Compare all plausible matches and confirm the reporting agency, name, and stable identifiers.
- Open the matched record and read the custody status exactly as shown.
- Record the observation date and time before checking the originating agency.
Agency matching is essential. Mercer County Correction Center is a county jail operated through Mercer County Corrections. New Jersey State Prison is an NJDOC institution in Trenton. A person can move from MCCC to NJDOC after a state sentence. That movement ends county custody but continues state custody. The reporting agency tells which part of the path VINE describes.

Mercer VINE Release Fields
Available details can vary by reporting agency and custody record. Do not promise a field that the matched result does not show. The key task is to connect a person to the right agency, then interpret the status within that agency’s scope.

A VINE label should not be renamed. “Out of custody,” “released,” and “transferred” may carry different meanings. If the status says the person left MCCC, obtain the county transaction to learn the date, type, and destination. Register Mercer VINE Release Alerts
Notification registration begins from the correct in-custody record. First confirm the person and agency. Then choose each contact method separately. New Jersey guidance warns that selecting one method does not automatically enroll every other method. Register a phone call, text, mobile-app alert, email, or TTY option as the interface permits.

- Repeat registration for each additional method needed.
- For telephone alerts, create a memorable four-digit PIN.
- When an automated call arrives, enter the PIN to confirm receipt.
- Keep contact details current and recheck the record if an expected alert does not arrive.
New Jersey Enhanced VINE lists a toll-free line at 1-877-846-3465 and TTY at 1-866-847-1298. Access is free. The PIN confirms receipt of a phone alert; it is not an inmate identifier. A notification may concern release, transfer, or another eligible custody change, so read the complete message before deciding what happened.
Registration is confidential according to the state brochure. Still, VINE itself cautions users not to depend on the service alone for personal safety. Use official emergency guidance where there is an immediate risk. For record proof, corroborate the alert with the agency that held the person.
Note: Register each chosen notification method separately, and do not assume a phone enrollment also creates text, email, or app alerts.
Confirm Mercer VINE Release Results
For an MCCC result, seek the existing county release or transfer transaction. Mercer County Correction Center can identify the public status channel, while the Mercer County OPRA process is the documentary fallback. Ask for the actual date and time out of MCCC custody, release reason or type, authorizing court reference, and destination or receiving agency if maintained and publicly disclosable.
Compare that transaction with Promis/Gavel. The court record may show a pretrial release order, dismissal, time-served disposition, sentence, or other event. It is not a gate timestamp. The jail transaction records the physical custody exit, while the court docket explains the legal event. When an NJDOC transfer appears, use the NJDOC Offender Search and match the SBI number.
For a state-prison release, separate forward-looking dates from completed events. Current Parole Eligibility Date is an expected eligibility date based on State Parole Board policy. It is not a release grant. An actual Date Out-of-Custody or final discharge record is better proof of a completed state custody exit. VINE can announce a change, but NJDOC and State Parole Board records determine prison discharge and parole status.
Mercer VINE System Limits
VINE does not cover ordinary federal BOP custody. If the person entered federal prison jurisdiction, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A past release date with no facility or a released status establishes departure from BOP custody only. Federal supervised release or another agency’s custody may still follow. A federal pretrial person under U.S. Marshals authority may not appear in a public BOP record at all.
ICE also has a separate Online Detainee Locator. It is primarily a current-custody tool, not a permanent release archive. A county record marked “released to ICE” means MCCC custody ended and immigration custody may have begun. Search the county exit and ICE status separately. No result can reflect timing, spelling, excluded coverage, transfer, release, or removal.
A municipal police holding-cell release can fall outside an MCCC inquiry as well. The arresting police department owns its arrest and holding record, while Municipal Court or Superior Court owns the adjudicative record. If the person was never booked into MCCC, a Mercer County jail search may have nothing to report. Confirm the arresting agency before deciding that an absent VINE match reflects a release.
The New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry is also separate from VINE. It publishes limited information for qualifying registrants under New Jersey rules. It is not a recent-release list, custody feed, or substitute for an MCCC or NJDOC record. Registry absence proves neither that a person is unregistered nor that no release occurred because not every registrant appears on the public Internet registry.

Data can lag. Records can also disappear from public display after an agency’s retention or publication period. VINE was built for timely status and notice, not certified historical research. Use agency records when the exact event, destination, or time matters.
Mercer Parole Alerts Require Registration
New Jersey VINE registration is separate from New Jersey State Parole Board victim registration. A person enrolled for a VINE custody alert is not automatically enrolled for Board communications about parole events. The systems serve related but distinct roles. VINE follows participating custody changes, while the Board runs its own victim-services process for eligible parole notices.
Readers who need both channels must complete each official process. The State Parole Board victim-services registration page gives the Board’s requirements and contact path. Do not send victim information through a general OPRA request. Public parole eligibility notices are also not a substitute for either enrollment because a notice of possible consideration is not a decision or proof of release.
This local distinction prevents a missed-notice assumption. A VINE release alert may confirm that a participating custody feed changed, while Board registration can address qualifying parole communications. Neither replaces the final MCCC or NJDOC release record.
Note: VINE and State Parole Board victim registration are separate enrollments, so using one does not activate the other.
